Singapore had a head-start when Goh Chok Tong's team came up in 1984 with the vision of achieving the Swiss standard of living in 15 years, i.e. by 1999. Mahathir in his usual loud style, came up with Vision 2020 and was pronounced a visionary.

Vision 2020 is catchy because it suggests a perfect vision (for eye testing - 20/20 is considered "perfect" eyesight). It was actually a copycat idea, but marketed with pageantry and pomp as if it was his original idea.

Now take the topic under discussion - the ICT industry. Singapore started its computerization programme in a big way, way back in 1981. The second phase was from 1986 - 1990. In 1991, it embarked on the IT2000 programme to turn Singapore into an Intelligent Island.

Shortly after this, Mahathir caught onto the idea, and as usual came up with the brilliant marketing idea of Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC).

One thing must be said about Mahathir's ideas. His ideas are good and original. Unfortunately, those ideas that are good are not original, and those that are original are not good.

Pak Lah's comments are almost always casual in nature and without any substance; if an outsider were to just listen to what he has said without knowing who he is, that person would think that he is a kampung folk making coffee shop talk.

Despite Mahathir's flaws, Pak Lah can't achieve 10% of Mahathir's calibre. Pak Lah should stick to becoming a foreign minister and let someone else lead.

Telekom Malaysia (almost single handedly) stunted the growth of the Internet in the country and the need for everyone to be wired, hanging on to monopoly and going for their high profits! Germany is already in Gigabits, Singapore is talking about moving to 100Mbps, and we Malaysia can hardly sustain 512Kbps. Furthermore, how often does our lines drop?

It just shows how slow we are compare to others, even when we start at the same time. Maybe we can achieve "1 home 1 PC" by 2020. What a joke, that might not really happen! Nothing much will change if the Umno people didn't change and keep playing political cards and not on developing the country.

Sorry, this should be their mindset. It already a known fact that "malay = slow". How can we progress! They can keep their man at the top here, but when we compared with the world, where are they! LRT, MAS, TM, you named it, they flop it. Bio-valley already a failure, MSC is next.

The MSC is a total failure on all counts because of the significant lack of IT professionals in the country. The root cause of it is attributed to the NEP which set a quota for the various races entering our Malaysia public universities.

Moreover, our bright non-malays are given a raw deal by being offered "shitty" courses such as applied sciences, social science and other "low class" degrees. So, good courses such as computer science and IT are in turn offered to malays as part of the ever popular "malay agenda" and to fulfill the malay pride as some one had mentioned.

If the government is forever embroiled in the destructive notion of the malay agenda and the NEP to put the malays on par with the other races, Malaysia will seal its own doom sooner or later.

I refer to the article - The Chinese are the biggest taxpayers.

Mahathir disclosure about the Chinese being the biggest taxpayers did console me to some extent. He has spoken what the Chinese dare not speak in public even though we knew all along the fact that the Chinese are a major contributing force to the building of our Malaysia nation.

Be it in the nation's commerce, economy, education, industry, achievements and well-beings and all other aspects, the Chinese have always been a driving force and a strong supporter of the government of the day.

This announcement is of great significance. It makes you wonder about how much money the rich natives of the soil actually contribute to the nation which they call their own.

A minister was robbed of RM350000, an ex-minister was caught with lots of loose change many years back. A captain of the industry got lots of money from the sale of his shares to the government.

Do all these rich people pay enough tax? Many beneficiaries of Mara scholarships don't pay back the loans. Do they pay taxes? They are the middle-class backbone of the sons of the soil. They consist 60 percent of the population. They form 90 percent of the civil service drawing quite good pay. Do they pay enough taxes?

The Chinese work their backs off to support the nation that they love so that the government can implement projects that benefit the nation. The Chinese do enough to support the nation and the government. They walk the talk. Some others only talk.

But who cares? If 'Chinese are the biggest taxpayers' comment was uttered by someone from the Chinese community, such a person will surely be condemned as being insensitive, racist and unpatriotic by certain malay politicians. He might be asked to go back to his country of origin (even though he was born in Malaysia.).

Now, Mahathir has taken the words out of the Chinese mouth and confirmed the contribution made by them all these years. The malay politicians who have always accused the Chinese of being greedy, selfish and unpatriotic should shut up from now on.

Sometimes, majority does not mean right. Majority may not lead better. Majority may not bring good. Hence, if Umno strongmen can humbly admit the facts and remove the stumbling blocks, believe me, Malaysia can do much, much better than what we are today.

The problem with us is that our country is run by politicians who pretend to be knowledgeable and competent, and when they are not sure, they hire half baked consultants, who are out to make a fast buck.

What a way to end 2005 - Proton and MAS threatening to becoming dinosaurs through poor management and political interference.

If the government had learn to apply the concept of meritocracy and shut up the bumbling interferences by politicians who don't know what to say, maybe we won't see all this today.

How much can we be involved? Nothing. All does is reveal our anger and frustrations and 2005 will end with the government no wiser than before.

Shame on these so-called leaders who only know how to put the blames on others rather than resign with dignity (if they still have some).

In this Bolehland, GLCs invest in business not looking into profitability. Even it is on the loosing side they will still go ahead. You know why? They try to create some activity which involved huge money transaction, where they can take some out for their own pockets during the transaction.

Who cares the company will lose since Malaysians will pay for it. This is widely practised and you can see so many stalled projects in GLCs. Sooner or later our income tax will go up to pay for all these losses, and some might say easy money for others who are privileged.

Why should they go for transparency when it will be detrimental to them, as it will expose more of their dirty laundry. Better to keep it under wraps for now. Forget about Vision 2020 and whatever visions. All talk only.

Look at China now. They even hauled up those people who are guilty of mismanagement of funds and appropriate actions been taken. For us? As long as we got connection we can live another day.

We will definitely give them time but normally new GLC management team come in messed thing up and then left the shit behind. Another badge come in and repeat the same thing.

It is like a routine, time after time and yet they cannot perform but will try to "arbitrage" from their cheap management skills. How many resources and time are we afford to lose? They are real thrash to society.

Just a matter of time, all these will become episodes of silence. People in Malaysia always have short memory. That is why BN always win.

Let us hope that 2007 will be a really better New Year.

This country would be a great country if there is no division of races. With its richness of natural resources, Malaysia should be one among the most developed nation in Asia.

Bitter to say, all those money lost to corrupt politicians and cronies, and unprofitable projects.

This is what saddens me as Malaysian.

However, I do believe the brain drain is inevitable. I believe it is happening. As a student in past school, I see it every year. Each and every year after the holidays, there are a few less people in class. Why? Their parents emigrated down under West.

I left the country in the 90s because of the injustices in Malaysia perpetrated by Umno. I made my fortune and no returned home but I thought Mahathir had somehow managed to turn the mindset of Umno around into focusing on global competition, instead of petty race-based competition.

Now I am certain that those in power want the affirmative action policies to continue, not because these policies benefit the general malay population, but because these policies give Umno the right to continue to plunder the country.

Legalised theft is what they are after, and if anyone dares speak out, they just tell you to leave the country so that they can continue their plunder.

It is sad, but my children don't have to live through this injustice. They can go anywhere they want in the world, and I encourage them.

There are many people who made big names as Malaysians only when they are treated better in other countries, not because they are Malaysians but because they are treated as one of their own.

That is explain why they choose not to come back. Treatment was so good that they offered their family to emigrate over there.

Since Umno is playing the race cards openly, the coming future for non-malays is suffering through endurance. How many more years should we Malaysians suffer? It is not only the non-malays but also the poor malays struggling for survival in isolated villages.

Anyway, these people voted with their feet and wrote about their experience. They wanted to tell you about this country and how its government discriminated its minority people.

I can feel they love this country too but this country or rather this government did not love them. I can also feel their sadness and how things are turning for their malay brothers and sisters who are getting weaker and weaker in this globalised world, and all this is Umno's fault.

They realised if this is not stop immediately, this country will eventually go down the drain like those fourth world banana republics.

Their ancestors have helped this country to fight for independence and even fought off Japanese invaders but our government has never been grateful and instead discriminated against them to the hilt.

They also saw that they have become second-class citizens in their country of birth, and were very disappointed when Indonesia labours can become first class citizens whereas foreign spouses of non-malays took years just to get a PR. Even terrorists like Hambali and Abu Bakar can become PR holders easily. Something is definitely wrong with this country.

Here maybe you are malay and oblivious to others who are suffering and as a Muslim yourself, is this injustice reconcilable to the tenets of Islam?

Tony Gunawan also voted with his feet and went on to become USA first world badminton doubles champion. Instead of helping his original country to badminton glory, he helped another country to become a potent rival.

The same could be said of our citizens who voted with their feet. Many went to Singapore and worked for companies that became our competitors. If our country and government has been kind to some of its citizens, this additional competition wouldn't have been created. I hope the present government will realise its folly and there is no substitute to real meritocracy.

The non-malays don't want everything but only fairness and social justice, a very tenet of your malays great religion. If you can't even subscribe to the tenets of your own religion, I am afraid you may be branded a hypocrite and a very racist one at that.

It is not true that there will be no policy that can keep every race happy.

Only the person who thinks that he should be treated better than others would object to a policy that is fair to all.

That feeling of 'entitlement' is created by politicians who have found a convenient way to retain power in parliamentary democracy.

As a grass root, I hope that all Malaysians will live in harmony and work towards a better tomorrow, a better environment for the children.

Help each other with basic compassion of a human being.

When you see a blind woman trying to cross a busy road, you jump forward to guide her. You are not helping her because of her skin color or her religion. You help simply out of compassion of a human being.

Extend that spirit to our fellow countrymen. Give all those lagging behind with a helping hand, you won't miss a malay who needs help, neither will you miss a non-malay who needs help.

The weaknesses in NEP are only two fold:

(1) failure to set and adhere to a deadline (so that malays knew that they have to work for self-betterment within a time frame and this would only benefit malay themselves and fellow Malaysians)

(2) weakness in execution as the benefits did not flow onto malays equally. That is why we can see a Dato spending much on divorce and marrying while many malays are still in poverty

I would say that certain malays are powerful and rich; emerging as the prime pillar of economic strength in Malaysia. Chinese businesses may be more numerous but they are mainly of smaller scale. The biggest companies in Malaysia are Petronas, Sime Darby, Telekonm, Tenaga, and I think most of them are controlled by malays.

Majority of the voters do not have access to a balanced media reporting channels to debate the cons and pros of the government. So long the BN buys votes with handouts and nice slogans, I think the majority ignorant voters can be swayed away from seeing the real issues.

I agree malays must adopt a "charitable culture". You already have the Zakat mechanism here but since when we hear rich malays donating and helping poor malays? If malay poverty is a national issue, patriotic and rich malays should assist their fellow Islam but I have not heard the likes of AP kings donating like what Bill Gates did.

But don't forget, we have poor Chinese, Indians, Kadazan, Orang Asli……….so poverty is race blind. We should help all poor people, not only poor malays, but poor Malaysians.

We have to move beyond Chinese vs. malay and all that crap. It is Malaysia vs. Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam etc, for economic survival.

Racism and racial discrimination have been part of Malaysian social, political, economic and cultural realities ever since colonial times.

Today, race has been so deeply institutionalised that it is a key factor determining benefits from government development policies, social policy, education policy, entry into educational institutions, bids for business contracts, cultural policy, discounts for purchasing houses and other official policies.

Practically every aspect of Malaysian life is permeated by the so-called 'bumis policy' based on malay-centrism. This is unabashedly spelled out by political leaders in the daily mass media in Malaysia.

It is an established fact that racial polarisation is prevalent in various Malaysian institutions. A survey by University Malaya shows that 98 percent of malay students do not mix with non-malays while 97 percent of Indian students and 99 percent of Chinese students do not mingle with the other races.

While the government tries to account for this problem by blaming other extraneous factors such as the existence of vernacular schools, it is clear that the roots of polarisation lie in this institutionalisation of racism and racial discrimination.

The ruling party Umno prides itself on the supposedly 'successful' affirmative action in favour of bumis. Bumis literally means 'princes of the soil', the official epithet for malays and other indigenous peoples but which excludes the original peoples, i.e. the Orang Asli of Peninsula Malaysia. This has been the cornerstone of development plans since the New Economic Policy was started in 1971.

Consequently, while this populist bumis policy has been applied to the benefit of bumis as a whole, the new malay ruling elite is strategically placed to reap the full benefits of this racially based policy.

Totally committed to capitalism and to privatisation, this policy has ensured that the non-malay local and foreign elite have also gained from the New Economic Policy since 1971. This class cohesion among the Malaysian ruling elite underpins the racialist politics which has characterised Malaysian society since independence.

Racial discrimination in the realm of culture is seen not only in the education policy but also in the discrimination against non-malay cultures and religions in the National Cultural Policy. Non-Muslims face obstacles in their freedom to build places of worship and access to burial grounds, among other complaints.

Racism and racial discrimination have dominated Malaysian society for far too long. Now that the malay ruling elite has clearly gained control of the Malaysian economy, it is high time for a new consensus based on non-racial factors such as class, sector and need to justify affirmative action.

Well it just appeared on the google page when I searched for racism subject this afternoon.

I have been in New Zealand for 15 years and I have no intention to go back to Malaysia simply because there is an equal opportunity here for everyone, and I don't feel less ranked in the society.

I am not sure if I am part of the cream but I do have both bachelor and master degrees, and I am currently serving the New Zealand community.

I love the place I was brought up in (Sungai Petani) and the memory I had when I was attending primary and secondary schools, but the way the Chinese and Indian people are treated by the Malaysia government is just flawed.

I have no intention to go back, until I see a non-malay PM.

Way to go!

Let us celebrate the human spirit that strives against the odds! Persistence definitely bears fruits! And certainly they are sustainable and cherish-able!

Universal truths!

One got to be prepared to look for challenges, in any areas of your interest, beyond the shores of Malaysia.

Malaysia's economy is very small and unsophisticated. Australia's economy is bigger than all of the South East Asia countries combined. Imagine USA and Europe!

To be sure, I see this syndrome with our people. I see many non-malay Malaysians at Stanford, Berkeley etc, who got their first degree from Oxbridge but feel they need to further their studies.

Malay special rights as interpreted and redefined by the powers that be, have to my mind gone against the spirit of the constitutional provision.

Over the years the special right provision has been abused to the very detriment of the community it was meant to help. This has been acknowledged by Dr Mahathir, our former prime minister. Clearly there has to be a reassessment on the need or relevance of such a constitutional provision.

Surely this is consonant with Islamic values, where human beings are created equal before God. Clearly, the special privileges advocates have not included a moral dimension to their argument.

Of course you find it difficult to fathom why non-malays are so opposed to the privilege you so rightfully claim. Wouldn't expect anything more from you! It is ridiculous for special rights to be based on the number of 'rich' non-malays and malays. Is that the only justification you have?

Don't get me wrong, there are some self-made malay success stories who deserve due respect and admiration. But then, if you can't succeed with all the spoon-feeding, then what can I say?

It wasn't meant to be forever. Tell me honestly, how long do you think special rights can last? Globalisation will turn Malaysia into an economic island if you start asking foreign businesses how much malay equity they have.

It is stupid to compare special rights with vernacular education. How do malays lose out by non-malays studying in their own language? On the other hand, non-malays are obviously on the losing side when affirmative action is race-based.

If after decades of special rights, the poor malays are still poor, then don't you think the system is flawed? All that has been achieved by the special rights is benefit a certain elite layer of the malay community in the name of the rest.

Why can't we just help the poor regardless of their race? That way the most deserving get assistance, and if more people from one race are more deserving, so be it. At least it is fair!

Malaysia is not a place to invest your money.

The policies are so loop-sided that you cannot chose the best people to work for you but to employ those malay graduates who are way below "standard".

In the first place, these malays are not of intellect quality but the foreign and local companies are forced to employ them.

So, if a foreign company has a choice, they will not invest in a country like that where competition is solely based on skin color, and "know who" not "know how".

Malaysia now lags behind both China's and India's science and technology sectors, and regional rivals Singapore and Thailand now attract more foreign direct investments.

Why is it so that we lag behind all those countries? Just study who are the planners in the countries education system.

Here we have third class educationists in the form of Umno-malays, most of them are third graders in their school days, planning the education policies. They are actually failures academically and now trying to teach others about education.

Then look around the schools and universities. Just a cursory glance will tell you that the teaching staffs are not of first class materials. Many are byproducts of unemployed graduates who managed to get teaching as their only choice of vocation.

Similarly the universities teaching staffs are third rated too. When you have such lousy teachers, would you expect first class materials?

Whatever Malaysia is advocating, Malaysia is heading to doom! Agriculture, commerce, education, health, politics, social interaction, everything that Malaysia embarks is doomed.

The information and communication technology that Malaysia implementing is as good as doomed since day one when the corrupted and racist Mahathir laid hand on it.

Anything that is the genesis of this corrupted and racist Mahathir is doomed, be it Agusta, Daya Bumi, education - English to malay malay to English, EPF, Felcra, Felda, Formula 1, general election, MAS, math and science in English, military defense, MSC, National Service, NEP, North South Highway, Perwaja, polis task force, Proton, Wawasan Schools……….the list is endless. Nothing works in Malaysia.

Now the religious Badawi is implementing 9MP using Islam with the doctrine advocated by the corrupted and racist Mahathir.

This is more severe than the doctrine by Mahathir since Badawi adds another critical and negative dimension into the corrupted and racist doctrine, that is, the aberrant Islam!

This further decreases the efficiency in the utilization of good human engineering practices in a highly competitive global world!

The only way Malaysia can succeed is to embrace good human engineering practices compassionately, since only good human engineering practices can attain excellent, efficient and effective production in order to compete with other formidable ICT nations.

This means the practices of meritocracy, no NEP and racial discrimination!

With a corrupted and racist government practice corrupt and racial discriminatory engineering practices, the effective job activities and efficiency in productions are definitely to be lagging.

This means high production costs, inefficient manufacturing processes, poor research and development designs, with expensive and inferior products! Example - Proton!

The government might as well close down Cyberjaya, encourage goat rearing and save costs. At least the loss in capital is not as severe as in ICT ventures and by the year 2020, every people is guaranteed with a roast lamb!

The biggest joke is, the people themselves are to be blamed for supporting the current and always has been and probably forever will be, the BN.

That is keep it up and make them more and more arrogant.

We want to be hubs of everything and master of none. That is why we know for sure Vision 2020 will not be achieved. It is easy to set a vision and really another to achieve it.

Principally as a small nation with limited human resources, not making optimum use of its human resource by sidelining a major more advanced sector of its population through the NEP, will create many many more "Tak Boleh".

With people only interested in sitting beside a money machine, where Malaysia will end with, is already a certainty.

Any cure? No, no way. The entire makeup of the Malaysia society from corruption, greed, politics and third world mentality etc, will doom any effort to rectify it. We can't even talk simple things like "understanding each other" let alone major issues like corruption, etc.

Even God has got no solution for Malaysia the way it is going.

Here are some facts on public transport. Hong Kong with a population of six million on a tiny island has a good efficient public transport system. So too has Singapore.

In KL we only talk of a 1.3 million population spread out between a huge area of KL and Petaling Jaya.

So why is our government not doing this? Because of self-conflicting government policies.

1. The privatisation of highway projects which are all in the hands of cronies and;

2. The National Automotive Policy (NAP) which forces us to buy expensive cars due to our inefficient public transport system.

Let us not forget the lucrative toll collection and the selling of the Smart tags, the latter of which is in the hands of yet another crony.

The Malaysian government is not stupid, if not how could it have built the world class Twin Towers. Yet why does it not have the expertise to build a world class public transport system? It is all because of the reasons stated above.

We don't have to spend millions of ringgit, we just need to implement the measures. They have been proven in Taiwan, China and many other countries. And don't tell me Malaysia doesn't have the talent to manage an efficient bus system.

If we think hard, we can come up with our very own Malaysian way of solving our transport problem.

If after all the headhunts, a suitable candidate still can't be found, then sack the current transport minister and appoint me!

But of course non-malays, especially the non-malays born after 1957 will see things differently.

First of all, they did not choose to come to Malaysia, especially not with its present system of government. It is not their fault that the British, more than one hundred years ago, brought in so many Chinese and Indians, and made the Umno-malays feel insecure.

It is not their fault that many of the immigrants, with the permission of the British, toiled to be successful and that made the Umno-malays felt threatened by it. And since when did success become something you have to be punished for instead of celebrating?

It is not their fault that English is the dominant language of technology, science, diplomacy, commerce, and just about any branch of knowledge and has been entrenched in Malaysia since 1786.

They can't understand why the government is hell bent on destroying the system of government left behind by the British, a system that Singapore kept, enhanced and used to become one of the richest, most well planned, most advanced, competitive, cleanest and admired countries on earth, despite being just a rock the size of island.

They feel puzzled that the Umno-controlled government talks with a forked tongue - asking Malaysians to be united and at the same time - asking the non-malays to accept second class citizenships, and then Tun Razak own son Najib threatened to bathe a keris (dagger) with Chinese blood. To them, this is a contradiction.

Why were Chinese and Indians in the armed forces here Malaysia etc, in significant numbers before the 1970s? And there are a lot of lucrative deals in the army and police, and some are below the table and some like it that way.

"Why is that there are so few Chinese in the armed forces?"

Well, I think you know the answer why. Like so many government institutions, there was a form of ethnic cleansing in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, which saw the determined push of non-malays out in favor of increasing the number of malays both at the rank and at the leadership positions.

That is why you see a dramatic change in the complexion of the government if you compare, say the 60s and 90s. That is why non-malays avoid government institutions, not just the armed forces - it is the same with organizations like Bank Negara, EPF, etc.

Over the years, the Malaysia government institutions have evolved into very hostile environments for the non-malays.

Look at Singapore, the Chinese are in the army etc, so are the Indians and the malays. Yes there was an issue with the malay pilots. But there are significant Indians there in the civil service as an example since the Chinese are majority there.

Anyhow, onto the comments that touch on Singapore experience. Yes, making English the medium of instruction has served Singapore well. Just the other day, I was at a conference held by an MNC and employees came from all over Asia.

One of the most senior people in from the Singapore office was a malay and he was highly articulate, and obviously made it to such a high position based on his capabilities. And he is not the first Singaporean malay I met that held an important position in an MNC.

I always wondered why some Malaysian malays in some other forums say that if Malaysia adopts Singapore system, they will not survive. The Singaporean malays I met are doing just fine. Yes, many Malaysian malays hate Lee Kuan Yew and indeed Lee may have been a racist, but the Singapore system existed before him, he refined it, and people who came after him keep refining it, and it works well.

Anyway, yes it is anecdotal but nonetheless, these Singaporean malays I met are doing well. Whenever I go to Singapore, I see Singaporean malays working productively, and everyone in Singapore is virtually guaranteed a decent house.

They have access to world class education, world class government planning, world class landscaping, world class medical facilities, world class public safety, world class shopping, world class transportation, world class working environment (and due to Singapore high per capita income and strong Singapore dollar, they earn enough to afford good stuff too).

You want to know why so many Malaysians choose to be discriminated in white man's land or go south? It is not because of the NEP.

It is because our right to be Malaysians has been questioned. It is one thing to have to sacrifice for your fellow citizen. It is another thing to sacrifice for a citizen of a country where you don't even belong.

It is outrageous and pathetic that Korea is talking about "one family, one robot" while Malaysia is still struggling with "one family, one computer" a decade after both countries had got off a similar starting-mark in ICT development.

I have a quite number of friends who are lucky enough (rich enough) to pursue an overseas degree and eventually work in Silicon Valley in the US, thus contributing significantly to the pool of IT pros in that country.

But here Malaysia, we have a deadwood and sit-warming person. If you really mean business in something, you have to hire a really mean business person such as down to earth and no-nonsense person.

Otherwise forget about developed status, ICT and so on. Technology such as biotechnology, ICT and such a catch phases are not an easy thing to achieve. We must a highly intelligent and quick response person to do it.

Korea has such a pool of talented people and result can been seen today, and what they going to do by 2010 aim also can be achievable.

Having worked with in Korea and Korean companies over the years, let me state that it is not as simple as saying the government there is better.

It is but other than that, Korean workforce is one of the best trained and motivated people that I have ever met in the world. Their handicap is their Confucian hierarchical system and culture but unlike the Japanese, they are incredibly strong-minded and bigger risk takers.

It takes technologically focused consumers, hard working, forward thinking, ethical, educated, civilised, and a people whom can take criticism with action to improve for growth. Copying the Japanese development methodology will not work in Malaysia.

Malaysia culture is unproductive, restrictive, racially, protectionism, and Islamic linked. Educated human capital, where are they? Do you see sophisticated, educated, and civilised hard working people in your Malaysia culture? Do you see a demand in quality?

Government protection of your miniscule local market is blatantly narrow-minded. Protection of the malays has lead to a reversal in the above traits that would have otherwise lead Malaysia to be a greater nation than it is today.

When will the monorail be integrated with KL Sentral? How about building a flat footpath? If you walk around - it seems that Malaysians are incapable of building even that.

Malaysia, given its poor government and poor incentive and poor trained workforce had a smaller chance of making the MSC worked, and yet it took those early opportunities for granted and in fact squandered it away, much as we squandered away over the years the many opportunities of our resources, our people generosity and tolerance, our logistical advantage, our institutional strength, our diversity, even our constitutional strength.

We continue to take these things for granted and hence will inevitably fail. It is not the lack of resources, it is not the lack of infrastructure, it is the politics and the government system - the Umno hegemonic, the NEP and the corrupt ways.

Since when did Malaysia had the lead in anything? Perhaps is in the production of natural rubber and tin - at one time.

But at least we can still score some world prime with the first Malaysian eating "nasi lemak and teh tarik" in space by using millions of ringgit, and the money had already channel through that programme. It is those outdated mindsets for purely glamour that is drag our country down.
